One size does not fit all!

It is well known that Lee has used PING clubs since the age of thirteen and he can regularly be seen at PING's headquarters at Gainsborough, being custom fitted.  However custom fitting is not only for the Professional golfer.

Custom fitting is unquestionably of huge benefit to your game. It has to be. There’s simply no way someone who’s 5ft 6 and a 6ft 5 giant should be hitting the same specs.  It’s no different from having size 11 feet and squeezing into a size 8. Uncomfortable.

Andy Sellars B2 World Blind Golf Champion went along to Gainsborough to be fitted for a new set of clubs.

Through half a century of experience in custom fitting, PING has developed their extensive ‘Five Steps to Fitting.’ The process starts with the all-important interview process, during which the professional will determine the clients desired ball flight as well as his or her needs and preferences from their iron set. Following the initial conversation, the fitter will then predetermine some crucial static measurements in order to establish lie angle, club length, shaft type and flex as well as club model. This data will then be processed by the professional to determine a player’s colour code from PING’s ground-breaking colour code chart, with a range of 12 options depending on specification.  All this attention to detail is an integral part of the PING fitting process.

Using impact tape, the professional will then re-establish the above specifications from the player’s swing and impact position. This is known as the ‘Dynamic Swing Test.’ When these crucial measurement are confirmed, ball flight can be analysed which will, in turn, allow the professional to advise on hybrid/iron/wedge set-up, as well as loft and swing weight. The player is now one step away from having an iron set completely tailored to their individual needs, all thanks to PING’s unique, unmatchable process.

Finally, the professional will continue to monitor performance in order to confirm that the golfer’s desired improvement continues. These five steps have been groomed over decades in order to establish the best fitting process possible for those that chose to use PING equipment. The results speak from themselves.

Andy told us, "Used them for the first time in practise and now I understand why Lee is so straight and long.  I hit it miles and on the fairway!!"
