Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 2nd-5th October 2008

This week the European Tour moves to Scotland for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which Lee won in 2003. He still holds the record for the lowest 72 hole score, on 21-under par. The albatrosses made by Lee and Steen Tinning in 2003 at Kingsbarns, at the ninth and third holes respectively, both in round three, marked the first time in European Tour history that two albatrosses were made in the same round of the same tournament.

The event takes place on three courses, St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns,  168 Pros will join 168 Amateurs playing in teams of two, comprising of one professional and one amateur including personalities from the worlds of TV, sport, films, and business.
Lee again partners ISM manager Chubby Chandler (which he has done since 2003) and joins Paul McGinley and his partner Rurik Gobel for the first three rounds.
Tee-times are: Thursday 10.50 from the 10th at Kingsbarns, Friday 10.50 from the 1st at St Andrews and Saturday 9.11 from the 1st at Carnoustie.
Lee shot a bogey free 68 (-4) in the first round and ended the day in T20th position. He shot a second round 70 , still keeping bogeys off the card and moved up to T6th place, just two shots behind leader, Markus Brier.
Playing the third round in heavy rain and wind, Lee bogeyed the first four holes and double-bogeyed the 6th. Back to even par, and going out in 41, Lee made a tidy recovery and ended the day now 2-under par ( 76 ) and in T12th spot. He had a 10.18 start on Sunday with Ross Fisher. Following a final round 68 , Lee settled for a five-way tie for 8th position on 6-under par (four shots behind the leaders). Lee earned €67,462.31 in prize money but has been overtaken in the Order of Merit, by the new champion of the Dunhill Links, Robert Karlsson, and now lies in third place.

He will now take a break before the Portugal Masters, 16th -19th October.
