Lee's Master Class

And our own Lee John was with Watson and among those just one shot back after one of the most exciting days in my Masters history

Lee's Master Class

What a start to The Masters, one of my favourite weeks of the year.  And well done Lee Westwood for staking an early claim.

If the return of Tiger Woods to competitive golf wasn’t enough to satisfy the appetites of the Augusta patrons then what a leader board after day one.

Seniors Tour regular Freddie Couples took the honours at six under par, but then came none other than golden oldie Tom Watson, who almost produced the sports story of this and any other century by taking The Open into extra holes before Stewart Cink triumphed at Turnberry.

And our own Lee John was with Watson and among those just one shot back after one of the most exciting days in my Masters history.

But for a double bogey on the last hole, Ernie Els, seeking a first green jacket and a hat trick of wins this season, he too would have been right in the thick of it, but there are plenty of holes left for him to repair his last-hole damage.

Lee has had a fantastic last two years and not one golfer anywhere has been more consistent.  His rise back to the game’s upper echelon is a testimony to his willpower, desire class and ability.  Nobody deserves to prosper more in the hunt for a first major title.

It’s been just as busy off the course as we entertain clients, sponsors and guests in our home from home very close to the course.  Before we know it, it will be Sunday night, but you can bet your bottom dollar there will be plenty of excitement to come from this Masters.

I’ll let you know how it develops.
