You’ll Not See Nothing Like The Mighty Quinn What a great week at the Quinn Insurance British Masters from all aspects. The only tournament I can liken it to is the old Benson & Hedges at Fulford for atmosphere and the conviviality among all players, coaches and spectators. I was very grateful for everybody’s support and particularly that of our players. They went the extra yard to ensure the event was a success… even to the point of having four players in the top 10. I must single out Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell for coming back after their exertions in America. They both realised the importance of a Ryder Cup presence at the event and what a sterling effort by them both, particularly Lee, who was taken to three extra holes before finally releasing his grip on the trophy. Lee’s play is at another level at the moment and I am convinced it is only a matter of time before he becomes a serial winner again. Finally a word on the Quinn Insurance British Masters. I would like to thank all the staff at International Sports Management who have worked tirelessly over the past few months to put on such a first class event. Sonia Schofield and her team did us proud… as did the marshalls, operations staff, volunteers, BBC and Media and everybody else at The Belfry. Now it’s on to one of my favourite events of the year, the dunhill links championship where I will be partnering Lee Westwood and looking forward to a good result. |
