THE LEE WESTWOOD GOLF ACADEMY 2010

The Lee Westwood Golf Academy has just finished another successful summer with nearly 400 children attending it in 2010. The number of Academies grew in 2010 to reach as far north as Glasgow and as far south as Perranporth in Cornwall.

Lee once again made some visits to the Academies via helicopter which was a great highlight for everyone attending. We were also fortunate that Iain Pyman visited a number of the Academies to pass on some of his 10 years of European Tour Golf experience onto the youngsters. Jeremy Dale, one of the world's best trick golfers, made an appearance at 3 of the Academies and was fantastically well received.

2010 also saw the first ever Westwood Residential Academy held at Bloxham School in Oxfordshire. 50 children attended this Academy, with some travelling from Europe and the Middle East to attend. The course was a great success and something we will build on for 2011.

As always, the summer was finished off with a fantastic 'Winners' Day' at Lindrick Golf Club on the 30th August in which 15 lucky young golfers got the chance to enjoy a day's golf with Lee and won some amazing prizes from PING and Titleist. As in 2009, and each winner received a Lee Westwood Puttmaster.  We were blessed wih the weather for the Winners' Day which made it even better!!

The Academy is continuingly trying to improve the golfing experience it offers young golfers and 2010 has been another learning year for us. We are always monitoring areas we can get better in and we are certain that 2011 will be another great year for the Academy.

We do need to say a massive thank you to the Co-operative, PING, Titleist and Solar Sport for their continued support of the Academy. Their support only enhances what we are able to offer each youngster attending.

Information regarding the 2011 Academy will be posted on the Lee Westwood Academy website in November.
